This policy explains what personal information Slate Agency (“Slate”, “SL8”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use sl8.co.za, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Slate Agency is a South Africa–based AI and software consultancy operating the website sl8.co.za. For any privacy matter, contact our Information Officer at mike@sl8.co.za.

2. Information we collect

• Information you give us. When you complete our AI Readiness survey or contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, company name, industry, website, and any details you include in your message or answers.
• Survey results. Your responses, your calculated readiness score and tier, and notes we make when following up.
• Technical & usage data. Pages visited, referrer, approximate location, device and browser type, collected through cookies and Google Analytics (GA4).

3. How we use your information

• To respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, arrange a discovery call.
• To calculate and send your AI Readiness score and follow-up guidance.
• To deliver our services and manage our relationship with you.
• To send relevant follow-up emails where you have opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time.
• To understand and improve how the website performs.

4. Legal basis (POPIA)

We process your information on one or more of these grounds: your consent (for example, submitting the survey or subscribing to emails); the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering one; and our legitimate interest in running and improving our business, balanced against your rights.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers (operators) that help us run the business, under agreements that require them to protect it:

• Zoho CRM & Zoho Campaigns — to store enquiries and manage follow-up communication.
• Google Analytics — to measure website usage.
• Email & hosting providers — to deliver messages and serve the site.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

6. Cross-border transfers

Some of these providers process data on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that offer a comparable level of protection to POPIA, so your information remains safeguarded.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as the law requires. Enquiry and survey records are retained while there is a prospective or active relationship, and are removed or anonymised when they are no longer needed.

8. How we protect it

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures — access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted systems — to guard against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information at every step.

9. Cookies & analytics

The site uses essential cookies to function and analytics cookies (via Google Analytics) to understand usage. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking some may affect how the site works.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
• Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate or no longer needed.
• Object to processing, and withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

11. Children

Our services are aimed at businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and material changes will be posted on this page.
